Big Mean Buller River
More heavy rains have swollen the Buller River to scary proportions. No rafting today! Wild Rivers Rafting has a cut off level beyond which rafting is not safe for the uninitiated (and dammed dangerous for professionals as well).
Think . . . man eating holes–and not to leave out the possibly more self-preserving gender, woman eating holes (keep your thoughts clean, gentle reader), as big as 2 storey buildings, really sucky eddies, etc.). But . . . don’t despair, the sun is coming out and soon the Buller River will shrink towards normal for-this-time-of-year flow. As always we will be rafting on the Earthquake Section between Murchison and Westport, glorious West Coast, South Island, New Zealand. Join us!
