What really amazes me is how fast the Buller River level can raise AND fall. It has quite a large catchment area, which means it can collect a lot of rain in a short amount of time, especially when it rains like it did earlier this week. Once the rain stops and all the water drains into the river, the water level will peak and then start to drop. Pretty cool to see such dramatic changes, and they make spring rafting pretty exciting.
